When Naomi Handelman, founder and head designer of Keepsake Kippot, was in high school, her synagogue youth group was planning a dance that they hoped would attract teens from the entire Detroit Metropolitan area. She suggested that they call it the Yarmulke Hop and give handmade kippot to each boy and invented a design. It was a resounding success--the first such dance without a shortage of boys.
Fast forward through college, marriage and children, all the way to her daughter's wedding. She began making kippot for all the guests. And again, everyone loved them. Another bride-to-be saw the kippot and asked if Naomi would make them for her upcoming wedding. And so Keepsake Kippot began. Each skullcap is lovingly hand crafted. We offer a wide variety of colors, styles, materials, patterns and sizes. We are also thrilled to design kippot to your specifications. Do you want a set of matching kippot for each man in your wedding party? We can do that. Or perhaps you prefer a rainbow of choices for every guest at an event. Would you like to match the groomsmen's kippot to the attendant's dresses? We know how to make it happen. Perhaps you would like to honor your alma mater by using school colors in kippot.
